Position Summary
VantagePoint Alliance is searching for a EH&S Lead which develops, implements, and oversees comprehensive Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) programs to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This role is responsible for fostering a proactive safety culture, maintaining regulatory compliance, managing permits, conducting inspections, and leading incident prevention and response initiatives.

This position works cross-functionally with operations, construction, engineering, and leadership teams to protect employees, contractors, the environment, and company assets.

Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead EH&S planning, implementation, and technical performance to ensure safety, quality, and financial objectives are achieved.
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term EH&S objectives aligned with business strategy.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define annual technical, schedule, and compliance goals.
  • Serve as primary EH&S spokesperson with management, program teams, and external agencies.
Regulatory Compliance & Permitting
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, Fire Code, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain all required environmental permits and regulatory documentation.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and certification bodies.
  • Complete all required regulatory reporting.
Safety Programs & Culture
  • Develop, implement, and manage safety programs including:
    • Injury & Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP)
    • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
    • Respiratory Protection
    • PPE Programs
    • Evacuation Procedures
    • Ergonomics
    • Heat Stress
    • Bloodborne Pathogens
    • Contractor Safety Programs
    • Hazardous Chemical Management
  • Lead Safety Committee meetings, reporting, follow-ups, and incentive initiatives.
  • Support onboarding and orientation safety training.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and ongoing safety training sessions.
  • Promote a safety-first culture across operations and construction sites.
Site Oversight & Risk Mitigation
  • Conduct regular site inspections and hazard assessments.
  • Lead quarterly safety walks with department managers and insurance partners.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Develop engineering, administrative, and PPE controls to mitigate risk.
  • Ensure construction activities align with EH&S policies and guidelines.
Incident Investigation & Reporting
  • Investigate accidents, environmental incidents, and near-miss events.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and develop corrective action plans.
  • Compile and analyze safety metrics and statistical exposure data.
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting documentation.
Environmental Management
  • Oversee hazardous material handling and waste disposal programs.
  • Support consolidation and disposal of hazardous waste as required.
  • Monitor environmental compliance and pollutant control efforts.
Workers’ Compensation & Claims Support
  • Manage workers’ compensation intake, investigation, reporting, and return-to-work coordination.

Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Environmental, Health & Safety leadership roles.
  • 7+ years of experience in a Process Safety Management (PSM) facility.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Proven experience building and implementing comprehensive EHS programs.
  • Background in chemical processing, oil & gas, advanced manufacturing, R&D, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and deliver results.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis and incident investigations.
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure or emergent situations.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications
  • CSP, CIH, CHMM, or similar professional certification.
  • Experience supporting greenfield construction projects.
  • Experience in emerging energy, carbon transformation, or advanced manufacturing facilities.
