VantagePoint Alliance (VPA) is seeking an experienced Technical Field Advisor (TFA) to provide on-site technical oversight and advisory support for a multi-unit combustion turbine outage and rebuild program. This role will support the disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and rebuild of eight (8) GE Frame 6B combustion turbines, associated generators, and all auxiliary and electrical systems. The TFA serves as the technical authority in the field, ensuring work is executed safely, correctly, and in accordance with OEM standards, project specifications, and best practices—while supporting schedule adherence, quality, and issue resolution.




Key Responsibilities

Technical Oversight & Advisory
  • Provide hands-on field oversight for the disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of GE Frame 6B combustion turbines and generators.
  • Act as the primary technical advisor to site supervision, contractors, and client representatives.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with OEM manuals, drawings, procedures, and engineering standards.
  • Review and validate inspection findings, repair scopes, and recommended corrective actions.
  • Support technical decision-making related to component condition, repair vs. replace determinations, and field modifications.

Auxiliary & Electrical Systems
  • Oversee inspection and reinstallation of auxiliary systems, including:
    • Lube oil, hydraulic oil, and seal oil systems
    • Fuel gas and fuel oil systems
    • Starting systems
    • Cooling and ventilation systems
  • Provide technical oversight for electrical systems, including generators, cabling, instrumentation, and turbine-related controls interfaces.
  • Coordinate with electrical and I&C specialists to resolve system-level issues.

Quality, Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce quality standards and ensure compliance with project specifications and safety requirements.
  • Identify and escalate safety, quality, or technical risks to project leadership.
  • Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for field issues or non-conformances.
  • Verify proper documentation of inspections, repairs, and as-built conditions.

Coordination & Reporting
  • Interface with client representatives, OEMs, and third-party contractors.
  • Participate in daily planning meetings, technical reviews, and progress updates.
  • Provide clear field reporting on work status, technical issues, and recommendations.
  • Support commissioning and turnover activities as required.

Required Qualifications
  • Extensive experience as a Technical Field Advisor, Field Engineer, or Senior Technician supporting combustion turbine outages.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of GE Frame 6B combustion turbines.
  • Proven experience overseeing:
    • Turbine disassembly and reassembly
    • Inspections and repairs
    • Generator and auxiliary systems
    • Electrical and turbine-related systems
  • Strong ability to interpret OEM manuals, drawings, procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across multiple disciplines.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and rotational schedules during outage execution.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior OEM or OEM-authorized service experience.
  • Multi-unit outage or program-level experience.
  • Commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting experience.
  • Strong background in outage planning, quality assurance, and field execution support.

Work Environment
  • On-site, field-based role supporting outage and rebuild activities.
  • Exposure to industrial plant environments and rotating equipment.
  • Schedule may include nights, weekends, and extended shifts during outage windows.
