Position Summary
VantagePoint Alliance (VPA) is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the design and execution of electrical systems for power generation, distributed energy, and industrial infrastructure projects. This role supports projects across the full lifecycle—from conceptual development and proposal support through detailed engineering, installation, commissioning, and turnover.

The Electrical Engineer will develop electrical design packages, perform system analysis, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop electrical system designs for low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems
  • Prepare and review:
    • Single-line and three-line diagrams
    • AC/DC schematics
    • Protection and metering diagrams
    • Cable schedules
    • Panel layouts and equipment layouts
    • Connection diagrams
  • Perform electrical calculations including:
    • Load flow
    • Short-circuit analysis
    • Arc-flash hazard analysis
    • Grounding studies
  • Support conceptual engineering during proposal and sales phases
  • Coordinate with mechanical, controls, commissioning, and construction teams
  • Assist project managers during engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning phases
  • Participate in HAZOP reviews and risk assessments where required
  • Develop construction specifications and equipment selection documentation
  • Interface with clients, vendors, and subcontractors as needed
  • Conduct site visits, walkdowns, and field surveys
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality procedures

Technical Qualifications
  • Experience designing MV/LV distribution systems, substations, or industrial power systems
  • Knowledge of:
    • Protective relaying concepts
    • Switchgear systems
    • Control panels and DC distribution
    • Electrical equipment layouts
    • Cable routing and schedules
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as:
    • NFPA
    • NEC
    • UL
    • IEC
  • Proficiency with engineering software such as:
    • AutoCAD
    • ETAP
    • SKM
    • or equivalent tools
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools

Preferred Industry Experience
Experience supporting one or more of the following project environments:
  • Power generation (1–25MW typical distributed generation)
  • CHP / cogeneration systems
  • Renewable natural gas (RNG)
  • Microgrids
  • Solar or battery energy storage
  • Industrial manufacturing facilities
  • Utility interconnect systems
  • Substations and switchyards

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • Typically 5+ years of relevant electrical design experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required
  • Experience supporting EPC or industrial project execution environments strongly preferred
