Position Overview

The Electrical CAD Designer will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and project managers to develop detailed electrical drawings, layouts, and simulations that support large-scale power and energy projects. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, knowledgeable in NEC standards, and experienced in designing systems across diverse power plant technologies — including gas turbines, biomass, hydrogen, carbon capture, BESS, hydro, wind, and solar.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed electrical one-line diagrams, circuit schematics, cable routing, and general arrangement drawings in compliance with project specifications and codes.
  • Support electrical engineering teams by developing substation layouts, grounding details, conduit schedules, and wiring diagrams.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to ensure design integrity, coordination, and constructability.
  • Maintain adherence to client CAD standards and project documentation procedures.
  • Utilize advanced CAD commands, libraries, and routines to improve drafting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Interpret engineers’ notes, sketches, and markups to produce precise construction-ready deliverables.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to technical problem-solving efforts.
  • Ensure all work aligns with NEC and applicable industry codes, safety standards, and project requirements.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting Technology, Electrical Design, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical design or drafting for industrial or power generation projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Microsoft Excel; familiarity with 2D/3D modeling applications preferred.
  • Strong understanding of NEC, electrical system layouts, and substation design fundamentals.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments with accuracy and meet project deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills within multi-discipline project environments.
  • Field experience or exposure to construction environments is highly desirable.
